Our Story
Lots of heart, research, development, and creation. Real people who really care.
Mindiful®'s origin story starts way back in 2016 at a local coffee shop in Los Angeles.
Clenét and Alex (the founders) were working on an interactive kid's book app they
were in development on and meeting. Clenét and Alex had originally met on set
for a music video he was directing, he liked Alex's illustrations and brought her on to the interactive children's book app.
During that morning's meeting, news broke covering another school shooting, as all of us feel, Clenét and Alex became so heartbroken they asked, “How can we help stop this? What can we do?” A lightbulb hit knowing they had the technical abilities and resources to specialists in the field to make this happen. They thought, “Mental Health resources should be universally accessible to kids for free. That’s where you start.”
Here is where the idea for Mindiful® was born; based on a mission since day one that has never wavered to provide, “Universally accessible mental health tools and resources for ALL children.”
From that day in the coffee shop forward (years of bootstrapping and grit to develop), they set out to create an evidence-based framework with actionable tools for all children. Clenét and Alex worked hard to independently and ethically develop a software solution that equitably and proactively provides active mental health innovations and resources for children with a positive place to learn, develop, and practice mental health and mindfulness techniques. And, most importantly a kid-first approach; a solution that meets kids exactly where they are at and is fun!
Since then, Mindiful® has tested and improved multiple version updates, developed robust and innovative feature expansions, and integrated a full SEL Educational System complete with videos to utilize the program.
Universal access to mental health resources for all little ones is no longer a dream. We will continue to grow and expand our mission of universal accessibility. We believe every child deserves the right to a healthy mind, don't you?
